Capitol Bancorp Reports Record Earnings (PDF)
LANSING, Mich. and PHOENIX, Ariz.: Oct. 19, 2006: Capitol Bancorp Limited (NYSE: CBC) today reported record quarterly earnings with third quarter net income approximating $10.8 million, an increase of 13 percent from the approximately $9.6 million reported for the third quarter of 2005. Basic and diluted earnings per share (EPS) were $0.68 and $0.66, up 6 percent and 8 percent, respectively, from $0.64 and $0.61 for the third quarter of 2005. Consolidated assets approximated $3.9 billion at September 30, 2006, a 15 percent annualized increase year-to-date, fueled by comparable expansion in key components of the balance sheet. Total portfolio loans exceeded $3.3 billion, increasing 15 percent year-over-year when compared to the $2.9 billion reported on September 30, 2005, and total deposits exceeded $3.1 billion, reflecting a 16 percent annualized increase over the $2.8 billion recorded at December 31, 2005, and approximately 17 percent growth, annualized, on a linked-quarter basis.

LANSING, MI, and PHOENIX: April 26, 2006: At today's annual shareholder meeting of Capitol Bancorp Limited (NYSE:CBC), Chairman and CEO Joseph D. Reid announced that the Board of Directors has adopted a strategic plan which calls for a network of 100 separately chartered community banks. The plan was announced as a "five-year growth plan." Reid also announced the Corporation's 55th consecutive quarterly cash dividend, increasing the payment from $0.20 to $0.25 per common share. The dividend of $0.25 per common share represents a 25 percent increase over the $0.20 dividend paid in the preceding quarter. The dividend is payable June 1, 2006, to shareholders of record as of May 10, 2006.

With annualized growth of 17 percent in the first three months of 2006, consolidated assets amounted to $3.6 billion at March 31, 2006, compared to $3.2 billion a year ago. Total portfolio loans exceeded $3.0 billion, increasing 11 percent when compared to the approximate $2.8 billion reported at March 31, 2005. Total deposits surpassed $2.9 billion, reflecting a 22 percent increase on an annualized basis.

LANSING, Mich., and PHOENIX: Jan. 26, 2006: Today, Capitol Bancorp Limited (NYSE:CBC) reported record fourth quarter earnings exceeding $10 million, an increase of more than 26 percent over the $7.9 million in earnings recorded in the fourth quarter of 2004. Record basic and diluted earnings per share (EPS) for the quarter of $0.66 and $0.64, respectively, represent a 20 percent and 23 percent increase as compared to 2004's fourth quarter figures of $0.55 and $0.52. For the year, Capitol reported record earnings approximating $36 million, an increase of nearly 35 percent over 2004's then record $26.7 million bottom line. Record basic and diluted EPS for 2005 were $2.42 and $2.34, respectively, even with a more than 6 percent increase in the outstanding share count to approximately 15.8 million shares at year-end 2005.
