LANSING, Mich., and PHOENIX, Ariz.: November 23, 2004: Capitol Bancorp Limited (NYSE:CBC), a community bank development company, today announced that it has filed an application to organize a bank in Auburn Hills, Michigan. Capitol currently has a network of 32 community banks across the country, with 11 banks in Michigan.

LANSING, Mich., and PHOENIX, Ariz.: The Board of Directors of Capitol Bancorp Limited (NYSE:CBC) today announced the Corporation's 49th consecutive quarterly cash dividend. The dividend of $0.17 per common share is payable December 1, 2004 to shareholders of record as of November 8, 2004 and represents a 13 percent increase over the $0.15 dividend paid in the same period in 2003.

LANSING, Mich., and PHOENIX, Ariz.: October 21, 2004: Today, Capitol Bancorp Limited (NYSE:CBC) reported record third quarter 2004 earnings exceeding $7.4 million, a 23 percent increase over earnings reported in the third quarter of 2003, while record earnings per share (EPS) of $0.50 on a diluted basis represent a 14 percent increase versus the $0.44 reported in the third quarter of 2003.

Giovanelli has been appointed President of the Northwest Region for Capitol Bancorp Limited (NYSE:CBC), a $3 billion community bank development company. In this role Giovanelli will introduce and manage Capitol's community bank development initiatives throughout Washington, Oregon and Idaho. His initial focus will be on Seattle and the King County area. Capitol also announced that talks with AEA Bancshares had concluded and that Capitol has terminated its agreement to purchase the company.
